god0femptiness-deactivated20120 asked: hey you have any tips n tutorials on making a better home tattoo then just basic doodle looking ones?
I generally don’t like answering this but I think I finally have a good answer, so here goes.
I think stick and poke ink should always be deeply personal, and should often involve the people and place where it is done. If you want a tattoo in a particular style, don’t try to replicate it at home. Wait until you’re sober and financially stable, find the best man for the job and pay him. Your James Dean will not look like Paula Deen and you’ll never have that fight with the guy who swore he knew what he was doing. See, to me that’s the difference between what a scratcher does and what I believe is a bonding experience that results in a tattoo.
So if your friends have an inside joke, put it on your butt in your friends’ handwriting. If your dog died and you just feel like it, put a paw on your knee. Keep it original because basic doodles are important in context and because I promise you won’t be happy with what you come up with if you try to jump into the deep end this early in the game.
